In 1983, she received her doctorate from the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University. In 1965, she started teaching at the Department of English Language and Literature at ELTE. One of her best-known works, Keats's World, was published in 1989. On 1 July 2000 she was appointed professor. In the academic year 2004/2005, she was appointed Director of the School of English and American Studies at ELTE.
