Dr. Éva Péteri

Biography:

I graduated at ELTE in 1993 (MA degrees: Hungarian and English Language and Literature and teacher’s degree). I continued my studies as a PhD student of the Modern English Literature program, and defended my PhD dissertation (Victorian Approaches to Religion as Reflected in the Art of the Pre-Raphaelites) in 2000. Between 2000 and 2002 I worked as a research fellow (OTKA scholarship) at the Department of English Studies, then as an assistant lecturer, and from 2006 as a senior lecturer.

Research:

The Pre-Raphaelites. I am interested in the sister arts in general, and explore the connections between the different fields of art (literature, painting, music), contemporary mentality and cultural memory. I also study the Pre-Raphaelites’ Hungarian connections: the references to Hungarian culture in Pre-Raphaelite art as well as the Pre-Raphaelites’ influence in Hungary.
